Web game
Drawing Playground
Practice drawing on your own, then play with friends. Drawing Playground is a free web game where you learn the basics, such as light and shade, mixing paint and gradients, in small playful steps, and then gather in a room to paint together, guess each other's drawings and hold themed contests. There is nothing to install and no signup. Pick a nickname and start.
What kind of game is it?
It is made for people who want to draw better but do not know where to start, and for people who just want a light drawing game with friends. Being bad at drawing is fine. The practice area compares your drawing with the answer, and in group rooms having fun together matters more than skill. It opens in any regular web browser on a phone or a computer.
Practice (solo, nothing is sent to a server)
All practice runs inside your own device and your drawings are not sent to a server. Practice is split into beginner, intermediate and advanced.
- Sun and shade (beginner). Drag the sun with your finger: the side facing it gets brighter, the far side gets darker, and a shadow falls on the ground. Then paint a ball in bright, middle and dark tones and compare it with the answer.
- Mixing paint (beginner). Drop paint one drop at a time to see what two colors make, and try to match a target color.
- Gradients (beginner). Pick a start and an end color and the colors in between blend smoothly. Paint skies such as sunset, sea or space from top to bottom.
- Drawing with shapes (beginner). Build a bear or a rocket step by step from circles, triangles and rectangles.
- Five levels of shading (intermediate). Paint a ball and a column in five tones to create a sense of volume.
- Color harmony quiz (intermediate). Find complementary and neighboring colors and learn why colors look good together.
- Pro canvas (advanced). A free canvas with layers, opacity and an eyedropper. "Topic challenge" asks you to finish a themed drawing in five minutes.
Free drawing
Draw whatever you like with an eraser and undo, and save the finished picture as a PNG file on your own device. Your picture stays on your device and is not sent to a server.
Drawing together (up to 8 people)
When you create a room you choose whether it is public or private. Public rooms appear in a list that anyone can join, and private rooms are only for people who know the room code or link. A room holds up to 8 people and has a chat. There are four modes.
- 🎨 Paint together. Everyone colors a big picture such as a town or the sea.
- 🎯 Guess the drawing. One person draws a prompt and the others guess. A round is 60 seconds, and in easy rooms you can pick from four choices.
- 🤝 Relay drawing. Take turns of 30 seconds to continue one picture, picking up where the last person stopped.
- 🏆 Theme contest. Everyone draws the same theme separately for 90 seconds, then votes without seeing who drew what.
Playing safely
- Drawings are not stored on a server. They exist only in the room while people are drawing and are deleted 30 minutes after the room becomes empty.
- Chat hides swear words and stops spamming.
- You can report a player for inappropriate drawings or messages, and a player reported by 3 people is blocked. The room host can remove people.
- A nickname can be anything. We do not collect names, contact details or photos. Please do not use face photos or personal information in drawings.
